The Girls...

There seems to be a drive in me lately to sit and chronicle  a visual history, if possible.

This pretty girl is Snowflake, so pure and white.  She was the first one Caleb picked up when we reached our destination, Blanco.

Two years ago we sold our nine hens to another homeschool family in Blanco and since then this amazing family has bred, raised, sold eggs and shown their variety of chickens in shows!  They have almost two hundred chickens now!  Little did we or they know how this passion for poultry would take off!

It was a wonderful trip to the hill country and a short visit into Blanco to walk through the shops, meet a shop owner that lived on the street thirty years ago that we live on now~what a small world!  She is interested in my business and wants me to contact her when my inventory is ready!

We picked out five different kinds of hens and they tagged them for us.  When the coop is ready, we'll venture out, leave the city behind and climb the hills to adopt these amazing creatures.  I'm as excited as the boys to bring home a Leghorn, a Barred Rock, a Plymouth Rock, Road Island Red, and an Ameraucana, I believe...variety!  We'd get more, but SA has laws about how many one can have...*sigh*

We've only named the one, though.  It was a simple choice...we left snow behind, so it fit.
I'm not sure if the picture does her justice, but this one has a gorgeous iridescent color on her back.  My dad wants to name one of them, so perhaps this will be the one.

There were about ninety little pair of feet running all over in just this one fenced area, so trying to pick just the right one was a challenge.  It was a blast to watch the boys chase them all over this huge pen and finally catch one to see if she 'fit'.

Saying goodbye was tough for the twins.  They were ready to plop them in their laps and drive home!  We have much to do to be ready.

Only as we drove from their property did we realize we were going to hit the end-of-day commute and we wanted to avoid traffic and lights, so we wound around  to Rt. 46 toward Boerne, one of my favorite little towns.   Along the way, we stopped for me to shoot the Blue Bonnets for my mother-in-law...I even picked a few from the roots to plant!

It always saddens me to head back into the city, but it's not time to move again.  I'll just enjoy these short trips and dream...

Family came for a delicious dinner my dad and sister cooked, I gave my nephew a haircut and now I am ready to hit the comfort of my bed, next to the love of my life.

Life is grand, if only one stops long enough to revel in His beauty and take in His magnificence.

How do you recharge?

What rekindles your zeal?

I'd like to hear.

The Fullness of His Grace!

Nov. beauty!

The fullness of His grace-experiencing things that one does not deserve or living in Light that He shines down just for one who is only worthy because of His amazing Love and power!

***********

Sometimes, friendship mysteriously occurs by an event or perhaps an obstacle gets in one's way. So often, we miss the blessings in these times-we wrestle with the difficulty, but then His Love shows up and leads down a road that might end as it did today, on a magnificent farm with a beautiful family.
That's what happened...we had a need-a home.
She had that home!~
It had EVERYTHING I'd prayed for...a chicken coop, fruit trees, it was out of the city, had a four car garage, and the list went on and on...
But, hence, it wasn't the home for us. It would have been thirty nine miles to see my sister...too far.
Plus, my Love said no and so I let it go, cried and moved on, reminding myself that He gives me the desires of my heart as I delight in Him.

But, that day, I met Amy.
A homeschool mom I instantly connected with.
We continued to write and today we took my parents out to her farm for a visit.
We felt very honored by her generosity and hospitality...she and her son cleared a path for my dad to fish in their pond, despite the busyness of her life.
My mom kept asking me how I knew Amy, to which I said we were sisters in Jesus and that I'd only met once...that amazed them.
Amy isn't living the conventional life, as most would call it. She has a desire to live off the land, squeezing the most from every opportunity she finds herself in.

'Jack!'

I am in awe of the strength of God flowing through her and her commitment to Him to see His purposes fulfilled in her life.
Since she has already posted about her home, I believe it would be OK to link to her blog! Check it out.

Thank you, Amy, for being yourself. It was so refreshing and I needed to just 'be' with you today. You are a gift and a treasure.

On a marvelous side note...
We found out yesterday that we were 'selected' over two other people shown another house and we move in two weeks. This home is huge, with three full bathrooms, four bedrooms, a game/family room, a ginormous yard, ceramic tiles in the family room and kitchen-which is a wonderful size compared to the one here-and hardwood floors throughout, lots of closet space, and only a little over two miles to mom's dialysis clinic and dad's VA clinic!
God is sooooooo good. It's closer to Love's work, church, and the neighborhood pool...
...and Oh, it's in a neighborhood, not a mouse maze subdivision...
(have I mentioned that I abhor those things, despite the fact that my sister is living in one?). Hers, fortunately, is right at the beginning of one, so I won't get sucked in and struggle to find my way out! Thank God!

These next two weeks are gearing up and a new season is ahead for our family.
I forgot to mention that my dear friend, Diane, said goodbye to her dad as he passed away on Friday. He was born on a Friday, the thirteenth and went home on the thirteenth~
Our God is in the details.

Our life is but a breath, so live breathing Him in and you'll find that you take deeper breaths!
I took these pictures today at Red Rock Farm!

Back to Boerne!

Last nite I asked Love if we could go on a date...
On such short notice, it became a 'family date'!
We wound up in Boerne, Tx.
It's a beautiful little town I'd love to live in!
Sunset at Cibilo Creek, Boerne, TX
There's a creek that runs through the town, so we stopped and found the ducks wagging their feathers for us to get out of the van, hoping for some bread!

Some friendly people offered us some of their bread. There are definitely friendly people here!
Then we met up with some kids fishing and they had a teeny tiny turtle and as we walked away they offerd it to the boys.
'Boerne'
They gladly took it but as we walked along, they agreed that little 'Boerne' deserved to stay in the creek with his family and friends. 'He'd be happier there, mom.'
I was very proud of that decision, although I love turtles and would have enjoyed having it around. So we set him free and boy, did he run for the water.

We ended our adventure at McD's.

Driving to Boerne was like taking a deep breath of fresh air as well as drinking in the beauty of His handiwork, displayed so elegantly through His creation and the love of family.

Life is good, yet our God is greater than good, He's exquisite!
