What do you want me to do?

"The Spirit alone gives eternal life. HUMAN EFFORT ACCOMPLISHES NOTHING! And the words I have spoken to you are spirit and life."      John 6:63

...and yet when I spin my wheels, thinking that all my 'doing' is working for God, I've missed the point!  Lots of activities has less to do with the Spirit and more to do with my own need to find approval.  Ouch...truth stings.

Recently, I had a stirring in my heart to seek out a mentor.  A woman older than me to bring clarity to my questions, someone to come alongside, pray for and with me, one to make me accountable.  My heart is overwhemed with gratitude that His timing is always perfect.  He sent me Cheryl.

So, last Thurs. I sat across from Cheryl in an HEB cafe, her listening and asking questions.  What we both 'saw' as we talked, is that I am doing too much...too busy to be effective and walk in my calling and gifts.

What is so humorous is I knew that already.  This was no shocker!

But having someone look you in the eye and confirm what you know is sometimes the only way that change can come.  We need one another like we need our heart to pump in order to be alive.

'So, God, what am I supposed to be doing?'

Later on that day, after everyone was asleep, I snuggled on the couch with my Bible, all lights off except one, asking that question as I opened His Word.  That's when John 6:29 flew off the pages of Scripture and straight into my heart.  It took my breath away.

Jesus told them, "This is the only work God wants from you: Believe in the one he has sent." John 6:29

The word, believe, in the Greek is a verb that means: I believe, have faith in, trust in; pass: I am entrusted with.  It's also defined as a transitive verb in Strong's, meaning:  to think to be true; to be persuaded of; to credit, place confidence in.

Do I have confidence in Jesus, giving Him permission to arrange and rearrange my schedule/life in order to be more effective?  Do I want my words/activities so filled with His Spirit that they bring Life to others?

Perhaps I can dream what He dreams for me...

One dream I've always had is to cheer women on to fight the fight of faith and overcome.  I don't mean just a few women, I mean a lot of women...to effectively live His life and pray for God's will to be accomplished in their lives.  Seeing married women truly living out 1 Peter 3:1-6 in their homes.  Seeing unmarried women so in love with their Savior and walking nearer to Him everyday.

I've not shared that with too many people because, in the past, I thought it would 'appear' that I was being prideful, that I was 'somebody'...yet, now I don't feel like that...

Jesus Himself said to 'spend your energy seeking the eternal life that the Son of Man can give you.'

That Life will affect history, open tombs and bring the dead to life.

Who wouldn't want to see tombs open and dead women come alive?  Those that are down trodden by life's pressures beginning to dance in freedom?

Count me in, Jesus!

I believe.

What is your dream?  Head over to Jennifer's website and share yours.  It'll help solidify that dream.

Thanks to Jennifer, I sat down and penned these words today.  It's been so long since I've written and have missed it!  Sadly, I've been too busy.   But then, I opened her note in my inbox and I went to her page and read her post.  She writes so well and inspires me to keep writing.  Thank you, Jennifer!
Do stop over there and check it out...we all have dreams.

Daune,
Just want to say a heartfelt "thanks" for being so encouraging over the past few years. I, myself, have been way too busy due to circumstances, but your calming words, and gentle approach, dashed with love and kindness have calmed my anxious heart many times. You have a gift with words, live outloud, and shine on my friend...
