Influential Books

I was reading The Art of Being Me, and she had been asked what fifteen books have influenced her. Thinking that surely there were fifteen that have influenced my thinking or that I LOVED reading, I'm gonna give it a try:

1. The Bible, No. 1, hands down.

2. 'The Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands', by Dr. Laura Shlessinger. Excellent book!

3. 'John Adams', by David McCullough. Took me almost three years to get through and then I finally got it on tape! Excellent and inspiring.

4. 'Grace Based Parenting', by Tim Kimmel

5. 'Shepherding a Child's Heart' by Ted Tripp

6. 'Intimate Issues' by Linda Dillow and Lorraine Pintus

7. 'The Bait of Satan', by John Bevere

8. 'Easy Homeschooling Companion', by Lorraine Curry

9. 'The Cross and the Switchblade', by David Wilkerson

10. 'Foxes Book of Martyrs'

11. 'Run Baby Run', by Nicki Cruz

12. 'Ruth, A Portrait: The story of Ruth Bell Graham' by Patricia Cornwell. This book was fantastic. It brought a great deal of healing to my life. I thoroughly enjoyed the passion this woman had in her life...she made me laugh, cry and dream...great book.

13. 'Under God' compilation of stories, edited by Toby Mac from D C Talk.

14. 'The Book of Virtues' edited by William Bennett

15. 'For the Children's Sake' by Susan Schaeffer Macaulay

I actually believe there are many more, but these are some of my favs...not in any particular order.
Thanks Jene' for inspiring me to remember what I'd forgotten-how precious books are to the soul.
Read not to contradict and confute; nor to
believe and take for granted; nor to find talk and discourse; but to weigh and
consider. Some books are to be tasted, others to be swallowed, and some
few to be chewed and digested: that is, some books are to be read only in parts,
others to be read, but not curiously, and some few to be read wholly, and with
diligence and attention.
